The following is an edited transcript of an email I wrote to a friend. Hopefully you’ll find some usable information in it.

Question:

What are the rules regarding hauling a trailer on the interstate? if i have a gooseneck, my truck, and a load of hay, do i need permits and logbooks? Even if there is no monetary gain involved? Kelly wants me to bring down a load of hay when i come but i don’t think that legally i can. i doubt i can dodge the scales and police for eighteen hours!!

1996 Ford F-250 Right Front 3/4 View

This 4 wheel drive 1996 Ford F-250 is equipped with a 460 cubic inch V-8, K&N air filter, 3 speed automatic transmission and a Ramsey RE-8000 worm drive wench. Dual fuel tanks. Air conditioner works great. A Ranch Hand bumper and brush guard is on the front. Headache rack is Ranch Hand brand, too. Truck has now has about 141,000 miles and is driven daily. Engine consumes about one quart of oil in 3,000 miles. Truck is equipped with steps and a high lift jack and a 2 5/16″ gooseneck hitch ball. The only body damage is the cut in left rear quarter panel. Windshield is cracked.
