Farmers Aren’t Stupid

Posted by BobWms on 20th August 2008

A Department of Water Resources representative stops at a Texas ranch and talks with an old rancher. He tells the rancher, I need to inspect your ranch for your water allocation.

The old rancher says, ‘Okay, but don’t go in that field over there.’

The Water representative says, ‘Mister, I have the Authority of the Federal Government with me. See this card? This card means I am allowed to go WHEREVER I WISH on any agricultural land. No questions asked or answered. Have I made myself clear? Do you understand?’

The old rancher nods politely and goes about his chores.

Later, the old rancher hears loud screams and spies the Water Rep running for his life and close behind is the rancher’s bull.

The bull is gaining with every step. The Rep is clearly terrified, so the old rancher immediately throws down his tools, runs to the fence and yells at the top of his lungs………………………..

‘YOUR CARD! SHOW HIM YOUR CARD!’

Capt’n Salsa’s Grill Roasted Yard Bird

Posted by BobWms on 20th February 2007

Wow I have a hankering for some really good grill roasted chicken, the melt in your mouth variety with some fresh homemade salsa slathered right on top. Just seems that we never have time during the lazy days of summer to get everything done. You know, you have to mow the grass, weed the garden and if you’re lucky harvest a bounty of fresh produce from your own little truck farm.

Judging Texas Chili Cookoffs

Posted by BobWms on 27th February 2006

My apologies to this author. I have no idea who wrote it, but I laughed until I almost cried. If you pay attention to the first two judges, the reaction of the third judge is even better. For those of you who have lived in Texas , you know how true this is. They actually have a Chili Cook-off about the time Halloween comes around. It’s located out west in Terlingua, TX. May contain language not suitable to all ages.

Judge #3 was an inexperienced Chili taster named Frank, who was visiting from Springfield , IL   Frank: “Recently, I was honored to be selected as a judge at a chili cook-off. The original person called in sick at the last moment and I happened to be standing there at the judge’s table asking for  directions  to the Coors Light truck, when the call came in. I was assured by the other two judges (Native Texans) that the chili wouldn’t be all that spicy and, besides, they told me I could have free beer during the tasting, so I  accepted”.

Here are the scorecard notes from the event:
